Not only are Stephen Schubert's works beautiful, unique, and uplifting, but what impressed me the
most was how he came to create his pieces. Stephen had prayed to God for his
"Divine right mission," that which he was "supposed" to do to fulfill his
Highest purpose in life. His prayers were answered when these images came to
him in a dream. He then set about creating these images in physical form,
creating them from an incredibly high Level of Light: 128
Constructed of birchwood, these multi-layered reliefs capture the viewer with a
great sense of vivid color, subtle tones, balance, and a clever play of shadows
in the trompe l'oeil tradition. The popularity of this unusual style has
allowed him to offer "limited multiples" in an age of mass production, each
piece being hand-crafted and signed.
